Kullu Tourism

Kullu Tourism : Raghunath Temple , Sultanpur Palace , Jagannath Devi Temple , Bijli Mahadev Temple , Manikaran , Basheshwar Mahadev Temple, etc.  Kullu is a beautiful district in Himachal Pradesh in India.


Raghunath Temple

Raghunath Temple : The temple is  dedicated to Lord Ram, who is the patron deity of the entire Kullu valley. Raja Jagat Singh, the erstwhile ruler of Kullu, built this temple in 1660 . He obtained a statue of Lord Ram from Ayodhya and established it within this temple.

Jagannathi Devi Temple : It is also known as Bekhli temple . The temple  is 3 km away from Kullu and is situated in the village of Bekhli. It is a stiff 1½?hour climb to reach this temple, but it provides a panoramic view of Kullu. The Bijli Mahadev Temple is located on a spur at a height of 2460 m. True to its name, the temple is often stuck by lightning (bijli, lightning).

Bijli Mahadev Temple:
The Temple is situated on a spur at an elevation of 2460 meters. As the name means, the temple is frequently struck by lightning .

Excursions from Kullu:  

Basheshwar Mahadev Temple : The temple situated  at  Bajura at a distance of 15 km  from Kullu. It is renowned for its fine sculptures.  

The Vaishno Devi Temple :  It is situated at a distance of 4 km from Kullu.  Vishnu Temple  is located at a distance of 12 km at Dayar. These are some of the other major shrines worth visiting.  

Manikaran :  The town is situated at the height of 1737 meters in the Parvati River valley at a distance of 45 km.The town  is famous for its hot sulphur springs. These hot springs are famously believed to have strong healing powers. This place is revered both by the Hindus and the Sikhs. 

Tourists can visit the Shri Ramchandra Temple and the Shri Guru Nanak Devji Gurdwara in Manikaran. Manikaran has hiking and trekking facilities to the travelers. Situated amidst pine forest, Kaisdhar (15 km) and Kasol (42 km) are other important picnic spots. Shoja (69 km), at an altitude of 2692 m, offers the traveler a breathtaking view of the entire Kullu valley.

Raisom (13 km), along the banks of river Beas, is a fine site for trekking. The town of Naggar (23 km) was the former capital of the Kullu state for more than 1,400 years. There are number of historic monuments and temples in this town.

Kullu draws the adventure-loving tourist by offering trekking and hiking trails in and around the valley. River Beas is also used for white-water rafting.

Taj Mahal

Golden Temple

The Golden Temple or Sri Harmandir Sahib or Sri Darbar Sahib, is situated in Amritsar, Punjab. Built by Guru Arjan Sahib, the temple is visited by thousands of devotees throughout the year.

How to Reach- By Train-Mysore is connected with a number of trains to Bangalore. The super fast luxury train the Shatabdi Express connects Mysore to Madras. The quickest and most comfortable way to reach Mysore is via Bangalore.
