Korba Tourism in Chhattisgarh

Korba is locaated at the confluence of rivers Hasdeo and Ahiran in Chhattisgarh.
Shiva Temple , Pali
Shiva Temple , Pali - The temple is located at a distance of 58 km  from Korba City. The  remains of an ancient Shiva Temple is the major tourist attraction here . It was built in  12th century AD in the lines of the Mahadev Temple at Markanda. The two registers of  sculptures differentiates it from the Markanda Shiva Temple.  There  you will find a big  and  beautiful lake . You must visit the place.


Mahishasur Mardini Temple
Mahishasur Mardini Temple :The fort  was built by Raja Pratwidev I. On the hilltop at a  height of 3060 feet there is a  plain, flat area spreading 5km and surrounded by five  ponds. 3 pond  are perennially full of water. Legendary medieval Mahishasur  Mardini Temple  is located here . The idol of Mahishasur Mardini, or Goddess Durga in her Shakti with 12  hands is worshiped here. Many devotees visit the place .

Sarvamangala : It is the sacred temple of Goddess Durga . It was built by the ancestors of  the landlord (zamindar) of Korba, Rajeshwar Dayal. A cave near the temple that goes under  the river  and opens on the other side as Badal Mahal. Rani Dhanraj Kunwar Devi to visit  the temple by this way for prayer. There are other temples also - Triloknath Mandir,  the Kali Mandir and Jyoti Kalash Bhavan. Many devotees visit the places around here.

Lafagarh
Lafagarh - It is one of the main natural forts of India with three entrances . The fort is  decorated by beautiful  pillars and statues.

Madwarani : The temple of Goddess Madwarani is worshiped here . This  temple was  constructed during the time of Navratri. Every year, a fair is organized during the time of  Navratri in the months  of September-October.

Kanki - There is a famous  is famous for Shiva Temple a distance of about 20 km. The  temple is famous as Kankeshwar Mahadev Temple.



Sitamani Temples & Caves
Sitamani Temples & Caves -The  three rock-cut  caves with ancient idols of Rama, Sita and  Laxman are on of  the major tourist  attractions here .

Kendai Waterfall - It is 55ft high at Tiger Point . The place is famous for viewing  tigers  and  other wild animals here .
Sankatmochan Hanuman Mandir : The temple  is located in Kudurmal of  Korba District. The  temple was constructed by Mahatma Kevlal Patel, a famous Saint of Kabir Sect. Lord Hanuman  is worshipped here . The  doorway and the staircases do not face in the same direction like  other temples. The stairs face the north while the doors face the south. It is believed  that  Lord Hanuman is a worshipper of Lord Balaji and so  when  the Balaji Temple was built  , the face of the deity  was kept turned towards the north, while the body faced the south.

Bango Dam
Bango Dam - a famous picnic spot are a must visit on your Korba Tour. Sitamani Temples & Caves : There are road three caves cut out from the rocks found  statues  of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman. According to legend  when Ram along with his wife and  brother were in exile for 14 years  passed through this very spot. Footprints of Sita   could be seen here. Near the cave there is an antique stone inscription  mentioning the  name of `Vedputra Shrivardhan. There is a large temple of Ram-Sita and other temples are  found here also.

Tuman Temples of the Hindu Trinity, Tuman : Tuman village  was the first capital when the  Haihai or Kalchuri Kings. There are 15 ruins of intricately sculptured stones principally  of ancient temples. Several images of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva were  excavated from the ruins. One of the temple features carvings of Dashavatar-the ten   incarnations of Vishnu, Goddess Ganga and Goddess Yamuna. The Jatashankar River flows  nearby.
Korba is rich in mineral and coal deposits and is also known for its Aluminium plant. Korba  the beautiful district promotes tourism in Chhattisgarh .

Taj Mahal

Golden Temple
