West Khasi Hills Tourism

West Khasi Hills : Ranikor , The Green Deserts , Ding Ding Kohlangat , Mawthadraishan peak ,
Nongkhnum  river Island , Thum falls , Weinia falls ,Langshiang falls , Kyllang Rock ,Jakrem Hot Spring ,etc. are the Major Attractions.

Ranikor
The place is about  156-km from Nongstoin and 120-km to Shillong. Anglers can row up the Jadukata river where the Kynshi and Rilang converge and catch different fishes. The tourists can track on the rock cliffs and enjoy the clear blue water nearby.
 Jakrem Hot Spring,
The hot spring is situated about 45 kms from Nongstoin (via Mawthawpdah) and  59  kms from Shillong.The hot spring is naturally Sulphur water which is believed to have medicinal   properties.  People  take  a  dip  here for hope of cure and refreshment.
Kyllang Rock
The rock  is made of a single, huge solid igneous rock . It is situated at Mawnai about 10 kms  from  Mairang.  The rock looks like  the  dome-shape.  Local people say that the rock possesses a  sort  of magnetic  field. No one has ever fallen from the slope of  the huge rock. Tourists enjoy  rock-climbing here.  
Thum falls
Thum falls is on the river Kynshi  60  metres  high .It is situated  near  Dilingim village. At the base of Thum Falls  is  a  beautiful  pool surrounded by hard rocks on three sides. 
 
Langshiang falls
Langshiang falls  is formed immediately after the confluence of the diverged streams of the Kynshi river. The falls  is situated near Sangriang and can be viewed clearly from Mawpon village. Tourists and adventerous people love the challenges of trekking here.
Nongkhnum  river Island:
It is a river island on the Kynshi known  as  Nongkhnum. It is in the form of a Plateau covering an area of about 25 Sq. kms. The island is formed due to the changing  of the river Kynshi  near Diangsyiang and Diligim villages, which forms the northern stream called Namliang and the southern stream called Phanliang.



 
Weinia falls
Weinia falls is formed on the river Kynshi also . The water vapour rises up from the bottom  of  the  falls, in
sunlight forming the  colours of the rainbow.  The falls is surrounded  with  rocks  of  different  shapes, sizes  and  colours. Massive step-like structures is seen on one side also.  
Ding Ding Kohlangat
Ding Ding Kohlangat falls, and the blue river pools of Wah Rilang near Mawranglang, 8 kms down from Mawkyrwat is a scenic beauty, for many to see and appreciate.

Mawthadraishan peak
It is a range of low hills in West Khasi Hills ,which are ideal for easy treks through rolling hills. It is  located  on  the  northern side of Nongstoin - Shillong road, near Nongshillong, Mawroh and Markasa villages.  On top you will find a large pond .The plains of Assam, and the distant Himalayas after the monsoon, on clear days can be viewed from the top. The districts of Garo Hills, Khasi Hills and part of Bangladesh come within the view from the  Mawthadraishan peak.You can enjoy the Hills in their lush beautiful green and unexplored Peaks.

Taj Mahal

How to Reach- By Train-Mysore is connected with a number of trains to Bangalore. The super fast luxury train the Shatabdi Express connects Mysore to Madras. The quickest and most comfortable way to reach Mysore is via Bangalore.

By Air - The nearest airport to Mysore is Bangalore (139 km). By Road -Mysore is 139kms to the south west of Bangalore, well connected with rest of India.
