Senapati Tourism

Senapati Attractions :Maram Khulen , Yangkhullen , Mao , Makkhel , Dzukou valley , Mount Isu , Purul , Liyai  ,etc. Senapati is a beautiful district of Manipur

Maram Khulen: It is an ancient village in the district of Senapati in Manipur state. This beautiful village has a great  importance to anthropologist and research scholars. Many tourists visit the place to witness past glory of the place.

Yangkhullen: It  is the largest Zemei village in the district. It is located at a distance of 47 km from Maram Center in the Peren Road. The place still holds primitive social and economic life.

Mao: It is the last town of Manipur. The town Shares  its border with Nagaland. The town is at a distance of 107 km from Imphal and 28 km from Kohima .  Mao is a nice and one of the oldest hill stations of Manipur.  Mao Inspection Bungalow which was built by the Royal Military Engineers in 1897 is still an attraction . You can also enjoy the Mao Naga dance which is an important part of Manipuri culture. It is granary of other villages.

Makkhel: The place has huge historic importance. Makhel is the place of Naga breakup and the land of common origin of the Meiteis and Nagas. It is a holy place for many ethnic communities where they settled and migrated long before. There are historical monuments like i) The sacred Banyan trees which are believed to have grown from the tomb of the Naga mother. ii) The farewell monolith. iii) The triomonolith (3 km south to Makhel). iv) The dispersal tree at Sajouba (2 km north to Makhel). v) The hailstorm stone. vi) Village settlement stone. vii) The lucky stone etc.

Dzukou valley: The valley looks alive with beautiful flowers such as a rare lily from May to July. One can enjoy snowfall in winter also.

Mount Isu: Mount Isu is the highest peak in the area.

Purul : It is at a distance of 19 km from Maram .It is the home of indigenous games Toutou and wrestling. Toutou is played during New Year festival.Wrestling is traditionally played on the eve of paddy transplantation festival known as Paoki.
Liyai : It is the village which is  33 km from Tadubi .There are  various historical places like the stone monolith, the water pools, the Banyan tree, the male house and female house. The river Barak has originated from Liyai village.

How To Reach:
Air: The nearest airport is Imphal.
Rail: Dimapur is the nearest railway station.
Road: Well connected with Dimapur and Silchar by road.

Taj Mahal
