South Tripura Tourism

Tourism in South Tripura   : Tripura Sundari Temple, Bhuvaneswari Temple, Shiv Bari and Tin Mandir, Debatamura, Pillak, Tirthamukh, Trishna Wild Life Sanctuary and Deer Park and Patichari are some of the major attractions of this district.

Trishna Wild Life Sanctuary : Among the notable wildlife sanctuaries in North-east India, Trishna wildlife sanctuary deserves special mention. It is situated approximately 60 km away from the district headquarters in the western part of Belonia Sub-Division. You can approach either from Belonia in the south or from Sonamura in the northern part of the state. It is famous for migratory birds from Siberia and other places in winter. It was notified in the year November 1988. Total area - 194.704 sq km. Bison - locally known as 'Gaba' eat special type bamboo

Tripura Sundari Temple : The temple is situated at about 3 kms away from Udaipur, Tripura. This temple is one of the 51 pithasthans in India as per Hindu mythology. The temple was constructed in 1501 AD during the period of Maharaja Dhanyamanikya. It is one of the most important tourist spots of the state where hundreds of pilgrims visit every day. During Diwali, a big fair is organized in the temple premises. According to legends, this temple was constructed for establishing idol of Lord Vishnu.


Bhuvaneswari Temple: 
The temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Udaipur in South Tripura District. The temple is situated on the northern bank of Gomti River. The temple was built in between 1667 to 1676 AD, during the reign of Maharaja Govinda Manikya. The temple is constructed on a 3 feet high paved terrace. The roof of the temple features the typical four-chaala pattern with stupa like crowns on the vestibule and core chambers. The stupa on core chamber is embellished with floral designs. This temple has some historical importance associated with it.

Tin Mandir : This temple is situated by the east bank of Jagannath Dighi. The temple has stone-inscriptions. Perhaps it was built some time in the last quarter of the 17th century.
Debatamura : It  is located approximately 35 kms away from Udaipur.  Debatamura means God`s peak and it is a fall range between Udaipur and Amarpur running along the Gomti River. The place is famous for images of Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga.
Pillak: The place is about 55 kms away from Udaipur. It is situated in Belonia Sub-Division. Pillak is considered as a significant historical site as several old stone images have been found in this area.

Tirthamukh : It is situated about 62 km away from the district headquarters.  The famous Dumbur Hydel Project is situated here. Two rivers Raima and Sarma which originate in Dhalai District merge here and the famous Gomti River originates from this Dumbur reservoir at Tirthamukh. A large number of birds from different parts of the world visit the place during winter , which attracts tourists.
Deer Park and Patichari : It is situated at Patichari and is famous for the abode of spotted deer and barking deer.
Shib Bari: The temple is situated at Udaipur town. The temple was constructed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya. The door of the temple faces the west. The temple was repaired in 1651 AD by Maharaja Kalyan Manikya. The present temple was renovated by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya. According to the Pithamala, it is the abode of "Tripuresh Bhairav".

Taj Mahal

Golden Temple

The Golden Temple or Sri Harmandir Sahib or Sri Darbar Sahib, is situated in Amritsar, Punjab. Built by Guru Arjan Sahib, the temple is visited by thousands of devotees throughout the year.

Air : Flights operate to the Rajasansi airport at Amritsar from many national destinations. Rail : Regular trains operate between Amritsar and national capital Delhi. Victoria Memorial ( KOLKATA )

The palace also called as the Amba Vilas is the main palace of Mysore.. The architecture of the palace is the amalgamation of Dravidian, Indo-Saracenic, Roman and Oriental styles.

How to Reach- By Train-Mysore is connected with a number of trains to Bangalore. The super fast luxury train the Shatabdi Express connects Mysore to Madras. The quickest and most comfortable way to reach Mysore is via Bangalore.

By Air - The nearest airport to Mysore is Bangalore (139 km). By Road -Mysore is 139kms to the south west of Bangalore, well connected with rest of India.
