Golaghat District - Tourism in Assam

Golaghat District's main tourist attractions are as follows -
Deopahar
Deopahar is a very famous historical natural spot. It is located within the district of Golaghat. Assam. The place including  its ancient monuments and ruins is situated close to the NRL  (Numaligarh Refinery Limited) complex within Golaghat District.  Mythology often relates this place with the Kingdom of Jarasanda, in ancient Assam.

Kaziranga National Park : It is situated on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River. Kaziranga National Park is famous throughout the world. The park was established in the  year 1908 as a game reserve. later it was declared as a national park in the year 1974  The National Park's name is inscribed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) list of World Natural Heritage Site in the year 1985. It covers an area of 430 sq kms which is situated between the Brahmaputra River and the Karbi Anglong hills. Much of the park is swampy  with large water bodies.  The wildlife of this park includes several  species like the great Indian one-horned Rhinoceros, tiger, leopard, elephant, wild pig,  hog deer, swamp deer, buffalo and other water fowl. Moreover, many migratory birds visit Kaziranga in the winter season. For viewing wildlife in the swamp land, there are several  watch towers have beeb erected in Kaziranga National Park. Elephant and jeep rides are also available. The park usually remains closed from May to October. The best time to visit this park is from December to March. You will be pleased to view the wtih wild life there.

 Neghereting Shiva Mandir - It  is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built by the Ahom kings. It is surrounded by lush green tea gardens and is a popular picnic spot.  From the top of the hill, one can get a view spanning across Numaligarh Tea Estate and nearby Karbi Anglong hills and the sight of the nearby forests is simply divine.

Uncle Robin`s Children Museum : It  is located on the main road in Golaghat town . The museum is full of dolls, artifacts, mementos, movies and other personal collections of Dr Banerjee`s lifetime. There are 587 dolls and 262 other show pieces. Moreover, there are 194 paintings and 19 Award winning photographs. There are 93 pieces artifacts. Like for instance, Naga Warrior`s head hunting basket, small beautiful horse made up of Turquoise and many more. Further, there are several collections of documentary films started from 1953 to 1998.
Garampani - It is a hot water spring inside the Nambar Reserve Forest. It is about 18 kms South of Golaghat town. Winter season is the best season to visit this place as you get the chane  to see herds of wild elephants grazing by the side of the highway. Assam always attracts tourist all around the world for the most unexplored lands of hill , wild life , forest,etc.

Taj Mahal

Golden Temple
